2011-2012 summer transfer window is by far the busiest transfer window Arsenal have ever had, in total 5 players had left and 8 players joined Arsenal. Even though the number of players coming in is higher, the quality of the players Arsenal lost is huge.Arsenal had the best midfield last season with the likes of Cesc, Nasri, Wilshere, Walcott and Song playing along but they had problems in other areas and eventually had a disappointing campaign.

Arsenal fans are used with star player departures like Marc Overmars, Emmanuel Petit, Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry, Mathieu Flamini, William Gallas, Jose Antonio Reyes, Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor and etc. But never it had happened that two big star players left in the same window. Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri both very young and high quality midfielders and their departure will be a very big loss to the club. We can understand the Nasri situation who has only 12 months remaining in his contract and Arsenal are forced to sell him for something instead of nothing but Cesc situation could have been handled differently, Wenger could have held on his most priced possession, arguably the best midfield player in the league like what Spurs did with Luca Modric. It’s known that Cesc wants to return to Barca and his performance wasn’t at his best because of distractions but he is still a hell lot of a player, he yet again finished the season topping the assist list. Thats where Wenger missed on the title, it’s really tough to win anything with a world-class playmaker for an attacking team like Arsenal. But the arsenal fans has all the reasons to cheer up, they got the two of the best young midfielers in Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere, especially Jack what a season he had last term, hopefully he steps up in the absence of Cesc as Cesc did when Henry departed. It’s the same old story for the same old Arsenal.

Mirel Arteta, Yossi Benayoun, Park Chu-Young, Per Mertesacker and Andre Santos on the final two days of transfer window is called pressing the panic button, even though they all are quality players they need the time to set in with the team, thats where Wenger’s decision is again questionable, he could have brought them earlier on and looked at the Cesc and Nasri’s situations.

Arsenal still need two top quality midfielders, one for the Attacking role and another for defensive role. Overall creativity of Arsenal had come down with the loss Cesc and Nasri, no more Arsenal can associate them self with 6-nil victories, they need an attacking midfield to complement the deep-lying playmakers Arteta and Wilshere, so someone like Adel Taarabt or Marvin Martin who are not Champions League cup tied will fit the bill. Another area of concern is defensive midfielder, Alex Song is quality versatile player but never a defensive midfielder he has too much of attacking instinct for the profile, Arsenal need someone to protect the back four and win the ball like Makelele. Both Song and Diaby can never be Mekelele, they both have the attacking instinct, so again Yann M’Vila who is not Champion’s League Cup tied will fit the bill. With this two players coming in will complete the Arsenal squad and make them competitive for the Silver wares, if not we would see the like of RVP and Walcott departing next season.

Any of those towering defenders will complement Johan Djourou (192 cms), Abou Diaby (188 cms), Laurent Koscielny (185 cms), Alex Song (184 cms) and Thomas Vermaelen (183 cms) already in the squad. Samba has been linked to Arsenal quite a lot these days not only because of the failed bid in January transfer window but also the height he offers along with strength, he would cost gunners around 8-10 million pounds, if else they should do for Hangeland another towering defender but he is relatively not that strong, he would also be available around 10 million.

Arsenal had the ideal squad in the season that has just unfolded minus one top class Goal Keeper, which was evident during initial period, where that played the best attacking football and Almunia doing his best to nullifying it with his usual blunders. In the middle part of the season with the emergence Lukasz Fabianski and Wojciech Szczesny and with the injury to Thomas Vermaelen  and awful show by Sebastien Squillaci make the squad look missing a top class defender with the Goal keeping position looked ok, and again Arsenal played the best eye-catching football which was nullified by school boy defending. Post the Christmas season they looked to be the ideal squad, with Szczesny, Djourou and Robin Van Persie excelling. Samir Nasri has been the revelation of the season and with 12 months left on his contract we can expect that he is linked to various team but Wenger should do everything to make him stay. Arsenal should get rid of Diaby, Rosicky and Denilson they are not fit to wear the Arsenal jersey and what about the news of Denilson is sick of Arsenal not winning silverware for 6 years, well Arsenal didn’t win any because they have a short, fragile and coward Midfielder in the center like Denilson.

Wenger should get rid of Bendtner, his finishing is awful to say the least and yet he blames Wenger for not giving opportunities.

Bottom line - Wenger needs to spend during this summer transfer market, otherwise we wont see any improvement to the “disappointing season”.

It has been a long time to see an English talent in Arsenal ranks but with the like of Walcott and Wilshere the legacy is still alive.

In the modern-day football the teams would require one or more playmakers, since there would be one in the opposition already marking the playmaker, like Nigel De Jong always marking Fabregas, So with the likes of Wilshere in the side we have some one else in the team to create chances as well as doing the ball winning acts. Arsenal need experience and mover over the guys with wining mentality or the guys know how to win. Just look at Manchester United they dont have the best squad in the business yet they are winning simply because they have guys who have been there before and won multiple trophies in contrast Arsenal have only one player Clichy who has the premiership medal.

Gunners clearly needs players in 3 fields, Goal Keeping, defense and Striking department. With all the take over cloud surrounding Arsenal, Arsene Wenger will be assured with a hefty transfer sum, but as we all know Arsene wont be involved in big-money signings and more over what is the difference between Arsenal and other clubs if they do so, Arsenal FC is always a place to unearth gems or a place where a good player transforms to a top-class player. And they dont have to do so this season, Gianluigi Buffon is out of contract this season so is Alessandro Nesta, both quality experienced players and most importantly winners. Buffon and Nesta are the kind of guys gunners need to propel there young talents with the likes of Wojciech Szczesny and Johan Djourou excelling this season. And another player I would want see in donning the Arsenal jersey is a top class finisher. Arsenal have the best midfield which is second only to Barcelona and they create at least 10 chances a game and yet they end not scoring even a single goal due to care less or under pressure finishing. I would like to see Karim Benzema or Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as a string partner to Van Persie, both top class finishers and good in the air as well just what Arsenal desperately need.

With inclusion of this three players would obvious mean some players needs to get snubbed. So the players I mind not seeing feature in Arsenal squad are Manuel Almunia, Tomas Rosicky, Denilson, Sebastien Squillaci and Nicklas Bendtner. I’m not saying they are not fit to were the Gunners jersey or they dont have the quality but they dont have the most importantly thing that is what required, winning mentality.

I’m sure that with the Inclusion Buffon, Nesta and either Benzema or Huntelaar, Arsenal would be in a better position to win anything and break their jinks and keep up the history and tradition of Arsenal FC live and lastly get back the smile in the faces of fans like me.
